Ad Fontes

Welcome to Ad Fontes, a monthly journal published by St. Andrew’s. One of the clarion calls of the Reformers of the fifteenth century was ‘ad fontes,’ which can be loosely translated as ‘to the sources.’ It was a cry that reflected the Reformers’ intent to delve deeply into the text of Scripture and the interpretive traditions of the early church fathers in an effort to answer many of the same basic questions that confront the church today. The Reformers understood that the church must be the conscience of the culture, not the mirror of it. And our ethos at St. Andrew’s must be comprehended within the context of this history of Christendom and the Anglican Church. We go back to the sources and walk forward with the Lord.
